I am flying to belize between christmas and the newyear. Rick has mentioned going to San Pedro. It looks like it would be good but where would be a recommended place to stay during this time.

Location right across from airport. Nothing fancy but good value for the price and nice beachfront. Not too small, not too big. There is also a Sunbreeze Suites in San Pedro, the town. The suites are also nice but no beach.

Thanks for the information . I have booked the sunbreeze. Is there a chart that shows the length and possition of the airport at san pedreo? Would a GPS unit have this airport listed? Are there Unicom frequencies at San Pedreo?

Hi Bob, sorry for the delay, AOPA Summit and preparing for NBAA.

The following is what we have on file for the San Pedro airport:
Airport identifier - SPO
N 17° 54' / W 087° 58'
RWY 6/24, 3,500' X 60', Paved
Elevation 4'
No turbojets allowed

Observations: The departure end of runway 06 tapers into a taxiway that leads into the commercial ramp for the local airlines which use Cessna Caravans and Gippsland AV8's. The local pilots do not do a very good job of announcing on the UNICOM (122.8) so keep your eyes and ears open. Also, they prefer to land on 06 and roll right into the taxiway and depart on 24 regardless of the winds. They usually go in waves - 4-5 caravans will land and depart within a 5-10 minute window and they may be departing into landing traffic if you are flying a normal pattern based on prevailing wind. You will need to park on the grass to one side of the taxiway and make sure that your aircraft is pushed back sufficiently so that you do not have any interference of the wings of the C208's as they taxi by.
