Operators flying to Ecuadore are advised to remain prepared for disruptions to aviation and on the ground as a 60-day state of emergency is set to run through mid-December. This situation has been generated due to an increase in violence and drug trafficking activity. Operators are advised to prepare exteded accommodation and arrange ground transportation at short notice for crew to be able to depart on schedule. Disruptions to ground transportation are likely, affecting mostly Quito (SEQM/UIO) and Guayaquil (SEGU/GYE). In mid-September, the US Embassy in Ecuador stated that criminal groups recently carried out violent crimes south of Portete de Tarqu Ave in Guayaquil. On 22 October, the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade advised its citizens in Ecuador to expect movement delays due to additional security checks and potential road closures. The use of a ground handler, FBO, security provider or local staff is advised to ensure logistical access and ground transportation support at airports in Ecuador. Source: Osprey Flight Solutions.
