Flew down to Mexico for just a couple days to renew my multi-entry permit this year. Our destination was actually MMES but the DGAC did not pick up the phone the numerous times I called, so I figured it was safer to fly to MMSF (which is known as a GA-friendly airport) and double back to MMES.
I called ahead at MMSF, which is highly recommended, as DGAC Inspector Luis had most paperwork ready and available when we landed fairly late (1600). After my passengers and I cleared immigration, I obtained and paid for the multi-entry permit with the DGAC, an astounding $130 USD (prices must have gone up considerably since my last trip). THE DGAC DOES NOT ACCEPT CREDIT CARDS, so you must bring dollars or pesos. Immigration, the airport (e.g. landing fee) and fuel do accept credit cards, and the airport ONLY accepts credit cards. I also had to pay 75 pesos (~$4) as a landing fee.
After that, I filed a flight plan to MMES. Because MMES closed at 1800, we had to be off the ground NLT 1700.
I was off the ground about by about 1645, about 45 minutes after landing. All in all a good experience.

Hi frcabot, thank you for this Pirep.
Certainly one of the advantages of contacting the Civil Aviation Authorities in advance is the possibility to expedite the process and avoid any unpleasant surprises, such as changes in airport closing times or special requirements.
Thank you for sharing your experience with us!
Will you be flying to Mexico again soon? If you do, please let us know how it goes.
